We are heading out on a little mini vacation for the weekend! We will post more about where we’re going once we get there, but it’s a city we’ve never been to before with an amazing culture and some great food.
We hope y’all have a great weekend! xx
Do you listen to music when you're down? Music plays a huge part in our lives whether we're happy or sad, but there's something about listening to beautifully melancholy music that almost has healing powers when you're sad, doesn't it?
For us, we love listening to scores and soundtracks that, strangely enough, actually help us through a tough time. Thomas lost a friend a few weeks ago and has been listening to a couple of different scores lately. For us, the more dramatic the music is, the better, with beautiful and delicate strings and pianos and cellos all coming together to form a haunting, melodic sound that might just help ease whatever pain we're feeling.
We've gathered a list of a few of our favorite film scores below:
A Single Man
The Hours
A Cure For Wellness
Intersteller
Sleepy Hollow
Notes on a Scandal
Gladiator
Pirates of the Carribean
Harry Potter
The Chronicles of Narnia
Batman Begins
Chocolat
Forrest Gump
Casper
The Polar Express
Titanic (of course)
It sounds weird, we know, but you should try it sometime. And if scores from films aren't your thing, we would love to know what you listen to when you're feeling down. Music is so therapeutic, don't you think?

Happy hump day everyone! How was your Halloween? We had an absolute BLAST last night as our town goes all out for Halloween with shutting the downtown streets for trick or treating, decorating the houses, and everyone you know stopping in for some wine and chili. We went as another HGTV-themed duo this year and you can head over to our Instagram to check it out.
We didn't post a thing last week as we took some time off the blog and our YouTube to focus on some other projects we have going on, and the break was nice. BUT, the reason we didn't post last week was because we were so busy every night meeting new friends that, before last week, we had only met through Instagram.
First, the boys from Probably This came through town on their camping trip and we ended up inviting them to stay with us for 2 days! It was so cool to meet another couple who is navigating their way through the world of social media and to get their take on it. Also, they were just really friggin hilarious.
The same night Matt & Beau came, our friend Sayle was in town as well and paid us a few visits. She is from Cleveland like us, just two streets over actually, but moved to NYC back in the early 2000s where she lives with her wife. She is a wine expert (check out her website/business here!) who was filling us all with so much knowledge, not just about wine, but about culture and current politics. She is so extraordinary and we can't wait to see her again when she comes back to visit her family!
Isn't she fabulous?
We laughed and laughed and laughed and drank wine all night. It was so refreshing to meet people in real life that are just as wonderful as you know them to be online.
Also, it's worth noting here, that all of our new friends in the photos above sent thank you notes/care packages after they came to visit us. How did we get so lucky to have found them?
The next day we got invited to drinks with some other Instagram friends at Blackberry Farm near Knoxville, which was the first time we had ever been there, despite living so close. It was breathtakingly gorgeous, from the mountain views and sweeping hills, to the beautifully designed interiors of the main house/restaurants. The landscaping was gorgeous, you take golf carts to get everywhere, and the staff was so welcoming and friendly. At one point we came across a pretty sweet campfire with perfectly placed logs with literally no one around, but there was a basket filled with goodies to make s'mores (but no sticks?!) and a pretty view of the mountains. They have thought of pretty much everything.
We met Jesse and Justin for drinks and didn't stop laughing the entire night. As it got colder outside, they invited us to stay for dinner in the main house which was the perfect blend of Ralph Lauren meets rustic prestige. Not to mention the food was absolutely delicious. Oh and dessert? Don't get us started on Sarah's Chocolate Cake and the cookies.
How charming are those sconces?
They were both so down to earth and inviting and kept us laughing non stop. They're huge HGTV fans like us so that was a big topic of conversation all night. All in all, it was a beautiful fall night spent with great food, amazing views, and two charming men we're happy to have finally met in person.
So that was our week! It's crazy how social media can connect you with people you from all over the world, people you may not have normally come across, especially being from s such a small town. We hope y'all had a wonderful Halloween and ate lots of candy!!
The air was so cool tonight and the leaves were so crunchy as we walked the dogs. Everyone is putting up their Halloween decorations around the neighborhood which makes us so grateful to live in a town that takes this season so seriously. We've said it before and we'll say it again, our town really does turn into Salem from the movie Hocus Pocus around this time of year and, honestly, it's pretty enchanting.
Tonight Thomas' mom made homemade chicken noodle soup and we turned the fireplace on, something that's been happening quite frequently this week. We are cozied up on the couch watching Will & Grace and feeling pretty thankful all the things tonight: fall, October, chicken noodle soup, moms. We hope your Thursday night was alright, too. Good night friends :).
Though it's not quite cold enough yet here in Tennessee to break out the wool sweaters, you can definitely feel a crispness in the air, especially in the mornings. With the leaves changing colors and the light bouncing around the house, fall is here and we couldn't be more ready for it.
Besides cozying up on the couch with our favorite movies, another reason we love fall so much is because we can finally break out the flannels and boots. We always say autumn clothes are our favorite and this year Gap is definitely reminding us why.
Below are a few of our favorites that we're digging. What is it about browns, greens, oranges, and tans that puts us in a mood?!
This green henley is giving us all the cozy feels.
How great would these khakis look with the green henley above?
If you think we'll ever be over this sweater you're wrong.
Back to the khakis, only this time they're a cozy green color called ~forbidden forrest~.
We think this sweater would look great with the those ~forbidden~ khakis above, don't you?
Don't even get us started on this cord jacket. We're serious, don't.
This shaker stick crewneck sweater has dreary day, coffee, and Netflix written all over it.
And lastly, these wedge boots would finish every look above off nicely. We'll take 2 pairs, please :).
Nothing is more attractive than a person who comes across as self-assured and confident, don't you think? Even if you're not, we think it's always important to try. You know what they say, fake it till you make it!
One thing you can do to appear more confident is to walk with your head up at all times. By up, we don't mean pointed towards the sky with your nose in your air, we mean just don't keep your head perpetually down when you walk. It sounds silly, we know, but think about it. How many times do you see people walking at work, at the mall, in the elevator, or just down the street, and they're looking at their feet? If you haven't noticed it before, take a closer look next time! You'll be surprised how often you see it. It’s probably become a habit for most people and they don’t even think about it; it’s just instinct for most people to look down at their feet.
When you keep your head up, you're showing others you think enough of yourself and that you're secure with who you are. It's a sign of confidence, no doubt, but it's also a sign of someone intentionally trying to be the best version of themselves. Next time you're out in public, try walking with your head up and see how you feel. You might be tempted to instinctively put your head down, but just give it a try. We're confident that you might just surprise yourself ;).
As part of our ongoing, unofficial, fall-everything series that's going on the next few months, we thought we would round up a list of our favorite movies we watch every year during this season. We're suckers for snuggling up on the couch with a big bowl of popcorn, some kind of pumpkin or cinnamon candle, blankets, and diving into one of the movies below.
We've seen them so many times but we keep coming back to them because they instantly put us in the fall mood. They're just the right amount of spooky, thrilling fun, and (bonus!) a lot of them have amazing houses in them, too. They give us that cozy feeling that we look forward to each year and remind us that our favorite place in the world is home, where we can be transported to a whole other world without ever leaving our living room.
Without further ado, here's our list of favorite movies to watch during fall/Halloween:
Do y'all watch any of these movies? What are some of your favorites to watch? We would love to know so we can add to our list!
