The Best Family Beach Snack
Every morning before we head down to the beach, one of us spends about five minutes in the kitchen making a snack the entire family eats up every single time without fail:
A big stack of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
That's it! Can you imagine? Nothing fancy, just good old-fashioned PB&Js wrapped up and tossed into our beach bag, and they’ve become the sandwich of the summer for our family!
After a few hours in the sun, everyone is hungry, and there's something about a peanut butter and jelly sandwich at the beach that just hits differently. Maybe it's because it reminds us of childhood, or maybe it’s because we use PJ’s homemade jelly he makes from blackberries on our farm (and Natural JIF peanut butter, if you’re wondering). Whatever the reason, our kids happily look forward to them and eat them, and PJ and I are just as excited to grab one when it’s lunch time.
The best part is that they take almost no effort, right?
Five minutes of work in the morning means we don't have to pack up and leave the beach when hunger strikes. We can stay a little longer, read another chapter, watch the kids catch one more wave, and squeeze a little more out of the day.
Sometimes the best vacation foods aren't the most exciting, they're just the easiest ones that everyone actually eats.
