Hey you

Welcome to our blog. Here you’ll find daily dispatches and all the musings of our family’s adventures in our small town as we raise our kids, fix up our farm, and renovate houses. Thanks for stopping by! We’re so glad you’re here.

Today is Giving Tuesday!

Today is Giving Tuesday!

It’s here!!

While we’re free to feel motivated and inspired to give back to those who need it most all year, Giving Tuesday is the one day a year where the entire world comes together in order to help people. What does that look like? What does that mean? Well, it can look like a lot of things: Donating your time, donating money, donating an extra helping hand. It’s truly however you feel you can be most useful. It’s the most wonderful time of the year, why not spend it helping someone in need?

We have been working with USA for UNHCR for the past few years to raise awareness on the growing number of refugees in need. Giving Tuesday is an opportunity bring attention to the global refugee crisis and raise life-changing funds that will offer help, hope and opportunity to displaced people around the world.

At the end of each year, USA for UNHCR raises funds to help meet the winter needs of refugees and displaced people. This effort helps provide winter jackets, warm blankets, shelter reinforcements, heaters and more, to those who are living in makeshift shelters and buildings that have been destroyed by conflict — including the millions of Ukrainians who were forced to flee earlier this year and are facing their first winter away from home.

Another important fundraising need this year is underfunded refugee situations. Well-known refugee crises have received amazing support and funding, making it possible for UNHCR to set up camps and deliver aid in emergency situations. But refugees in places like Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, Iraq and Ethiopia are also in desperate need of support. Therefore, in addition to winterization, USA for UNHCR will be focusing on the life-changing impact funding makes by highlighting underfunded refugee situations.

When it comes to the difference funding makes, it’s a matter of life and death:

Underfunding means: Choosing between food or medicine, unstable housing and children exposed to harsh winter conditions. Funding means: Reinforced roofs and windows, warm winter clothing and parents who are able to feed their children and keep them healthy

This Giving Tuesday, please join me in making sure that ALL refugees have the resources they need to survive and thrive by donating to USA for UNHCR. Any amount helps, and your contribution goes further than you know.

Thank you, and happy holidays!
