The Busiest Monday Ever

The Busiest Monday Ever

A glimpse into what life is like lately with three kiddos in the home!

Monday was, in a word, a lot. Now that we have the kiddos back with us full time (!!!), our days are looking a lot differently lately, and yesterday was the perfect example of that. Admittedly, it was probably a little busier than it will normally be going forward, but there will always be days like that.

The day started early at 6am. The oldest started a new school and it was his first day, so we got up, made some oatmeal and bananas, and got ready for the day. Thomas walked him to school and toured his new classroom and met his new teacher while PJ stayed at home and got the other two up. Then it was back home to clean and straighten the house.

The middle kiddo had an appointment at home, so we kept little sister busy for a little bit while that was going on. After taking the dogs for a walk, we had a collaboration to shoot and edit, so we dropped the kiddos off at PJ’s mom’s house for a few hours while we finished that up. They absolutely love going over there and she is such a huge help for watching them! We don’t know what we would do without her, honestly. She’s been so helpful and supportive throughout this whole process. Remember when she moved in with us for a week when we first got them this past summer?

After we finished work, we picked up the oldest from school and came home for snacks. We picked up the other kiddos and had more snacks before Thomas took little sis to the dentist in Chattanooga. It was a bit of a drive, but they’re all so good in the car and are great about entertaining themselves when they need to.

While Thomas and little sis were at the dentist, PJ and the boys walked to the new cottage to get some work done on it. He was able to demo a lot of what’s going to be the master bedroom/bath and we realized that if we can just devote a little bit of time to the cottage each week, we could have the thing up and running in no time. It’s just a matter of making it work around our schedule now that we have the kiddos.

While the boys were at the cottage working, it started pouring down rain, so Thomas stopped by on the way home and picked them all up, only to finally get home and find all the power on our street was out, including our house. It was only around 6p, but it starts getting dark here at 5:30, so it was completely pitch black outside. We lit some candles and cancelled our plans to make some sort of homemade pasta and instead, Thomas took the oldest to go pick up some Krystal’s for everyone. We ate Krystal burgers and watched Mickey Mouse on PJ’s phone at the dining room table to distract the kids from being scared. Apart from the people at Krystal’s forgetting one of our fries, it was a nice, cozy, unexpected night. The power luckily came back on about 30 minutes after dinner.

After dinner was bath time, we read a book, and the kids went to bed fairly easily (always a plus). We finished the last few episodes of The Morning Show on Apple TV+ and reflected on the day. We realized that life feels so good right now and we’re so grateful for it. It’s busy, chaotic, and every day presents new challenges, some of which we’ve never faced before we had the kiddos, but overall we feel blessed.

We know nothing lasts forever and next year could look completely different family wise, career wise, etc., so we’re taking each moment in for the rest of the year and being thankful for what we have and not worrying about what we don’t. This is the most “us” we’ve felt in a while, and what we think we mean by that is we’ve finally found a rhythm that works for our family and we’re having fun exploring all that that means; the good, the bad, and the ugly.

So that’s what life looks like for us right now. We’re taking each day as it comes and feeling grateful for it all. Hope you had a good Monday, too, friend.
