Four Joyous Queer Rom-Coms by Robby Weber

A few weeks ago, our mutual Instagram friend Robby Weber surprised us with the sweetest package—four of his books, each one full of colorful, romantic, queer storylines.

I don’t know about you, but there’s something about summer that makes me crave these kinds of stories: lighthearted, heartfelt, and a bit dreamy. They’re the perfect companion for a beach day or an afternoon stretched out on the porch with a glass of wine. I love romantic comedy movies (my favorite genre), and I have come to realize I love romcom books just as much.

If you loved Red, White & Royal Blue, you’ll fall head over heels for Robby’s novels, too—they’re filled with all the charm, warmth, and swoony romance you could want.

If You Change Your Mind (2022)

This delightful YA rom-com features Harry, a determined teen screenwriter who plans for a distraction-free summer to win a prestigious contest and secure his dream college spot. But when his ex-boyfriend Grant returns with a secret and a new boy, Logan, arrives in town, Harry finds life has other plans. Full of summer sunshine, family warmth, and queer joy, the story showcases romance as a celebration—never a struggle.

Loved by critics:

  • Morgan Matson: “The perfect summer romance!”

  • Julian Winters: “My heart is still caught in the pages.”

I Like Me Better (2023)

Soccer star Zack Martin’s summer takes an unexpected turn when a prank forces him into community service at a seaside conservation center. Amid dolphin encounters (and maybe a shark costume mishap), he develops feelings for the skeptical intern, Chip. As romance blossoms, Zack must balance his attraction with staying true to himself. A sweet tale of self-discovery, queer connection, and seaside sunshine.

Praise reads:

  • Jason June: “Full of swoon-worthy flirtation, a great cast … aquatic shenanigans.”

  • Robbie Couch: “Bright and bubbly… smiling from ear to ear.”

What Is This Feeling? (2024)

Theater star Teddy McGuire is all set for his drama club’s New York City end-of-year trip—especially their legendary scavenger hunt that could win him a meeting with pop idol Benji Keaton. But when his friend cancels, Teddy’s stuck with Sebastian, a tech crew loner who initially seems to have zero interest in the game. As they race across the city, navigating mishaps, masquerades, and marquee moments, something unexpected kindles between them. Written with joy, hope, and self-belief, this story is an exuberant tribute to New York’s magic and the courage to dream big.

Reviewer highlights:

  • Kirkus: NYC becomes “another character… effervescent and heartfelt.”

  • Between the Shelves: “A delightful scavenger-hunt romance… perfect to end the summer with.”

Everything About You (2025)

Set in the fashion-fueled backdrop of Paris, this rivals-to-lovers story stars Milo Hawthorne, who lands a prestigious apprenticeship—with a job at stake at the end of summer. Competition heats up when Rhodes Hamilton, a glamorous Londoner with famous parents, secures the same spot. But as they vie for success, attraction and tension rise. Parkered between ambition, anxiety, and self-discovery, Milo’s carefully laid plans may prove unpredictable—as may his heart. I actually started reading this one first and I already love it! Pre-order now (out September 9th).

Critic’s note:

“Fans of The Devil Wears Prada and Heartstopper will adore this Parisian delight…”

Why These Books Shine Together

  • Same universe, standalone stories: You can enjoy them in any order, but cameos and Easter eggs make publication order especially fun.

  • Queer joy front and center: Each book celebrates queer characters whose sexuality isn’t depicted as a crisis, but as part of everyday life and love.

  • Vibrant settings & emotional warmth: From sun-drenched beach towns to NYC’s electric pace, or Paris’ glam glow—Weber crafts worlds you want to live in.

  • Themes of growth and hope: Whether chasing summer dreams, self-acceptance, creative ambition, or finding love in unexpected places, every story carries optimism and heart.

Whether you’re packing a tote for the beach, lounging by the pool, or just looking for a story that makes you smile, Robby Weber’s books are exactly the kind of reads to slip into your summer stack. Each one is filled with sunshine, swoon-worthy romance, and characters you’ll root for from the very first page.

They remind me that queer love stories can be joyful, funny, and full of heart—the kind you finish and immediately want to hand to a friend. If you’re looking to capture that same magic that made Red, White & Royal Blue such a phenomenon, Robby’s novels deserve a spot on your list.

Thank you so much, Robby!

PS: Robby sent us a signed copy of his newest book, which was the first time he signed the book for anyone! How sweet is that?
